Since at least two people occasionally check this would it be cool to just post music related things on here. If your not cool with it are there any indie music chat boards that you know of... livejournal or nonlj. I need a place to talk about music. Last.fm has proven to be a useful but chatless medium. Thanks.

Does anyone on here have a Last.fm. account? Just curious, I need more people to judge.

So I see one of the band interests of this group is Gregory and The Hawk. I used to see her play all the time when I was in high school. There were alot of kids from the Purchase scene that played in my town. Anyone else see her play? And purhaps where did you see her. Good news travels fast and I want to see how far the reaches of her fan base go. Its too bad this community is so small.

Up until a few weeks ago I had very little faith in the stuff thats been coming out recently. None of my friends have had anything to recommend to me, which is rare because pretty much all we do all day is name drop on each other. We had to start talking about stuff like school and emotions, it kinda freaked me out.
Then I decided to pick up the new copy of DIW, which had the first profile on the Kinsella family that Ive ever seen. It also had a small clip about an up and coming band called Annuals which intrigued me. I downloaded their new (and only) album and havent stopped listening to it since. Its the best thing ever! If Animal Collective and The Arcade Fire had a love child, this it what it would sound like. They are a very young band, they're all about my age, but im trying to figure out why they arent the biggest band ever. If you do nothing else, download the song "brother" off their album Be He Me, it will blow your mind.

Something crazy is happening to me right now, and you guys might see more stuff from me soon. Keep your eyes peeled, don't tell anyone about this. I'll be able to explain much more later, but for now just look closely at what you see.

P.S. Yes, this is music-related.

P.P.S. TOP SECRET. SERIOUSLY.

Pitchfork Music Festival [Monday, July 31, 2006 / 8:45pm]

I spent the weekend at the 2006 Pitchfork Music Festival. Short review: it was great. I met and hung out with a lot of my favorite artists, there was so much to do other than hear music e.g. shop at the homemade crafts/clothing market, see all the vendors that various record labels set up, take free stuff. Some of the best acts were Man Man, Ted Leo, Liars and CSS. I even got to visit CSS's tour bus! The musicians were super cool, this was so much better than other music festivals because the musicians weren't jackasses who won't talk to you. Also I have some new favorite bands, especially CSS whom I am very attracted to now.

As I hope you've realized, Farewell, dead air ! is a community dedicated to [GOOD] music and all things related. We talk bands/artists, we talk songs, we talk lyrics, we talk shows, we talk. Actually, I lied. We type; but that is beside the point.

Now that you joined/plan on joining, allow me to make known a few guidelines regarding community posts (and by guidelines, I pretty much mean mandatory compliances):
  • First off, I've decided not to require mod-approval for member posts. That only makes things tedious, for both moderators and members.

  • Please make all posts "friends-only."

  • Please stick to the rules of grammar. You don't have to be a hardcore proficient; basics would be nice.

  • Cuts are appreciated when it comes to posts of gargantuan proportions.

  • Images are awesome; just make sure you have the bandwidth to keep them up. No "x's."

  • While certain obscenities are not strictly prohibited, they are greatly discouraged.

  • Avoid the spam.

Okay. That sounds like enough.

I encourage every member to be active. Share your opinions, knowledge, and curly fries. Sharing is caring.

Onward !

Once you do become a member, please introduce yourself by filling out the following survey (in a new post). Information, such as your age, location, etc., are not required. Thanks !

Hey, hey, Mr. Survey...Collapse )
